We are looking for support to help us expand Under the Cover! We will be adding the space right next door to our existing space to increase our store from 800 square feet to over 1900 square feet. The space next to us is not only bigger but it needs more work to get it ready for books. We will need to do some demo, floor work, as well as build some walls and multiple bookshelves. We will be doing all of this while still running the shop and keeping our regular hours. We would like to have the new space open to the public by the end of October. With all the love we get we knew that expanding would be a great idea. When we decided we were doing this expansion we started saving everything we could so we would have enough to do what needs to be done. The new space will need a lot more work than our original space did. I stopped paying myself my salary in May so that we would be able to save enough to start work on the new space in September. We are keeping the quirky, eccentric, fun vibe that is in our original shop. We will have another mural by Kansas City artist Allan Halsey. We will also have a spot for selfies in the new space. This also means that we will be able to have more author signings and gatherings in the expanded shop. We will have more merchandise as well since and will be able to feature more local artists and local shops.
